BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber baseball team finished off the sweep of the Sandsharks of Soth Carolina Beaufort by winning both games of the double header 5-1 and 7-6.
Game one was another dominate pitching performance by Webber's Rob Lane who tossed a complete game five hitter allowing just one run. Lane picks up his first win of the season.
Leading the way for the Warriors at the plate was Hunter Ovens who had a hit, a run scored, and drove in two. Nate Goldstein also had a hit and a RBI.
The final game of the series was the biggest comeback of the year for the Warriors. After a three run homer in the top of the seventh for the Sandsharks, the score was 6-0. Webber then started chipping away by scoring two in the seventh, three in the eighth and topped it off by scoring two more in the ninth.
The Warriors got two on in the ninth and after a balk advanced the runners to second and third, freshman Derek Self drove a ball down the right field line to driving the winning runs.
Ovens picked up two more hits and two more runs scored. Goldstein also had two more hits and two runs driven in.
Webber moves to 7-10 on the year and 4-5 in the conference while the Sandsharks drop to 9-4 and 3-3. Webber will hit the field again Wednesday with a game time of noon.
