Babson Park, Fla. – The Webber International Warriors men's tennis team suffered a hard loss on Friday afternoon to conference opponent St. Thomas University, 6-2. The Warriors are now 3-2 overall and 2-1 in The Sun Conference.
The Warriors fell behind in the very beginning dropping two doubles matches to St. Thomas University, 2-1. With the advantage St. Thomas University pressed on and shut the Warriors out of five additional matches only giving one match to the Warriors. This is the first conference loss for the Warriors, 6-2.
Winning the only doubles point for the Warriors was the #2 team composed of Rafael Teixeira and Juuso Tapanainen, 9-8(3). #5 Marcel Schmitt a sophomore from Germany scored the only point in singles for the Warriors, 6-1,7-6 (1).
The Warriors take to the WIU Campus Courts again tomorrow February 19th , against Bethune Cookman, starting at 2 p.m.
