LAKELAND, Fla. – The Webber baseball team split their double header against Southeastern University, losing the first game 6-3 and winning the second game 9-1.
In game one the Warriors got a good pitching performance by
Ryan Gibbard who tossed seven innings allowing two runs on six hits while striking out four. He had the lead when he departed but a three run home run by the Fire's Kyle Petrick off reliever
Austin AuBuchon gave Southeastern the lead which they held onto to secure the win.
Tripp Merrell led the way for the Warriors at the dish going three- for-four with two RBI.
In game two, Webber got yet another stellar pitching performance by freshman
Ryan O'Gara who threw seven innings and just giving up one run on four hits.
Shane McIntyre helped out at the plate picking up three hits and driving in two runs. Billy Ferrell,
Nate Goldstein, and
Taylor Mathis all had two hits apiece.
The Warriors are now 2-5 on the year with a 1-2 mark in The Sun Conference. They hit the diamond again Tuesday February 15th when they take on Clearwater Christian at home.
