Lady Warriors defeat Seahawks in OT

Babson Park, Fla. - The Lady Warriors' basketball team added another conference win to their record on Tuesday night which keeps their hopes alive of participating in the postseason tournament with an overtime victory against the Northwood Seahawks, 66-62.
Starting the second half the Lady Warriors were trailing by 2 and in the need of game changing momentum. Instead of game changing momentum coming from the start of the half the Lady Warriors were faced with rough calls and even harder player on player action. It wasn't until 5:12 seconds left in the second half that the momentum came from a fast break by Chasity Edwards that tied the game. The Northwood Seahawks would then respond to these points and points by Nikki King and Shambrika Tomlin in the last 30 seconds which would lead the teams into overtime. In overtime the Lady Warriors jumped out to an early lead from the points posted by Chelsea Shipman and Nikki King which put the Warriors up by 4. The Lady Warriors were then able answer to every point posted by the Seahawks holding onto the 4 point lead ending the game 66-62.
Nikki King, #45, led the Lady Warriors on the court tonight against the Lady Seahawks by posting a 20-20 scoring 25 points, 23 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. #32 Chelsea Shipman, #12 Chasity Edwards, and #10 Shambrika Tomlin also assisting the Lady Warriors on the court tonight by posted 9 points each. The Lady Warriors record improves to 4-13 overall and 3-6 in The Sun Conference. The Lady Seahawks record falls to 3-18 overall and 2-7 in The Sun Conference.
The Lady Warriors return to action on Friday, February 4th, at 7:00 p.m. as they host St. Thomas University.
