ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Webber baseball team took on Eckerd College and defeated them 7-6 which made the Warriors record 4-2 against NCAA teams this year.
The Warriors scored first pushing a run across in the fourth but the Tritons evened up and then took a two run lead as they plated two more in the fifth. But, the Warriors had a huge sixth scoring six runs which proved to be just enough. Eckerd battled back scoring a run in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings and had the equalizing run at third with one out but failed to score again.
Leading the way for Webber at the plate was Billy Ferrell and Nate Goldstein who each had two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Brett Book had a three run double in the sixth. Jason Benkert picked up his first win of the season and Carlo Galluccio earned his fourth save.
Webber is now 23-28 on the year and will face University of South Carolina-Beaufort this weekend in their last The Sun Conference series.
