LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Webber baseball team trailed 3-0 going into the ninth inning against cross-town rival Warner University but five runs including a three run blast over the right field wall by Vince Ratto in the ninth inning, pushes Warriors past Royals.
Webber seemed to be stymied by Warner pitcher Brett Stanton who tossed eight and two thirds innings but rallied in the ninth off of what seemed to be a tired starting pitcher to push across the go ahead runs. The Warriors also got a good pitching performance out of Ryan Gibbard who threw eight innings before getting into trouble in the ninth allowing two base runners, and handing the ball over to Carlo Galluccio who stopped the bleeding and saved the game.
Leading the way for the Warriors at the plate Brett Book who went two-for- two a run and a RBI. Ryan Jamison also had two hits and Ratto had the three runs driven in on the homerun.
Webber overall record is now 22-26 and have a conference mark of 8-14. The two teams will face off again Saturday to finish the series.
