Warriors Tennis Wins Big Match

Babson Park, Fla. – The Webber International University men's tennis team defeated University of Northwestern Ohio, at Oak Street Park in Kissimmee on Monday night.
 
The final score was 6-3 for the Warriors, but the match was very tight an intense throughout the 5 hours of competition.
 
WIU improves to 13-4 on the season. Northwestern Ohio drops to 8-2.
 
Webber jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles. The #1 team of Philippe Andermatt and Caio Cardoso won 8-6 and the #2 team of Rafael Teixeira and Juuso Tapaneinen won 8-5.
 
“All three doubles matches were extremely close and competitive,” stated Coach Bill Heath.
 
Singles winners for Webber were: #2 Philippe Andermatt 4-6, 6-4, 6-4; #3 Juuso Tapaneinen 6-2, 4-6, 6-4; #4 Caio Cardoso 6-1, 6-1; and #5 Thiago Marion 6-1, 6-1.
 
“We beat a good team last night and I'm proud of our players that fought hard and stayed determined throughout their match to insure a team victory,” said Coach Heath.
 
The Warriors will be hosting Embry-Riddle University on the WIU Campus Courts on Wednesday at 12p.m.
