BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber baseball team played two games yesterday against Walsh University and the night cap against Indiana Wesleyan. The Warriors prevailed in both games winning 10-8 against the Cavaliers and then 4-3 versus the Wildcats.
Game one started out slow for the Warriors as they fell behind 4-0 after three innings but rallied in the bottom of the third and scored five runs to take the lead. Walsh stormed back in the fourth tallying three more to take a 7-5 lead but saw the Warriors score twice to tie the game at seven. Webber then scored every inning after that to win the 10-8. Picking up the win for Webber and earning his first collegiate win was Ryan Gibbard who came in relief to throw two innings allowing one run on three hits. Dominic Murray then came on in the seventh to toss a perfect inning striking out three to earn his first save of the season.
At the plate for the Warriors Tito Carrillo led the way going three-for-four with two runs scored. Ryan Regidor drove in two runs and Lance Lozan collected two hits in the contest.
Game two looked like it was going to be another high scoring affair as both teams scored in the first inning but the pitchers settled down and took control of the game. The score was tied 2-2 going into the sixth inning before the Wildcats pushed a run across and took a one run lead in to the bottom half of the inning. The Warriors managed to tie the game and then take the lead 4-3 with a bases loaded walk. That's how the game would end as Webber closed the door in the top of the seventh to win and move their record to 11-6 on the year.
Cody Whitlow shined at the plate for Webber picking up two hits and scoring twice While Darin Jones also had two hits and two runs driven in. Picking up his second win on the year was Chris Kirk who toed the rubber for two innings in relief of starter Will Arnold. Carlo Galluccio picked up his second save on the year as he only allowed one hit in his inning of work.
The Warriors will take the field again on Wednesday as they take on these two teams again with the first game scheduled to start at noon versus Indiana Weslyan and then Walsh at 3 pm.
