Warriors Drop Two and Series to Lions

MIAMI, Fla. – The Webber baseball team drop both games of the doubleheader to Florida Memorial University 6-1 and 6-5 in eleven innings.
After winning Friday night's game the Warriors came out sluggish with their bats and could only push across one run in the first game. Darin Jones was the only Warrior with two hits and he also scored a run. On the mound for Webber in game one was Josh Davis who tossed five innings allowing six runs on eleven hits. Ryan Gibbard then came on to throw an inning only giving up a hit.
In game two the Warriors took an early advantage but aw the Lions battle their way back to tie the game and send it to extra innings. In the eleventh inning, Lions center fielder Giovanni Rivera blasted a ball over the left field wall to end the game. Leading the way for Webber at the dish was Ryan Jamison who had four hits in five tries. Lance Lozan and Nate Goldstein each had two hits apiece. Sean Bryant started in the mound for Webber and went seven innings allowing five runs on nine hits. Chris Kirk then took the bump and tossed the next three and a third innings before Rivera ended the game.
Webber is now 6-4 overall and 1-2 in The Sun Conference and will hit the field again Tuesday February 23 when they take on Goshen College at home with the first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
