Warriors Outlast Tritons in Fourteen Inning Affair

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber baseball team took on NCAA Div II Eckerd College Wednesday night and after four hours, the Warriors prevailed 8-7 in the bottom of the fourteenth inning.  After the Warriors loaded the bases in the fourteenth inning, Ryan Regidor came through with a ringing line drive up the middle to win the game.
The Tritons took the early lead scoring four runs in the third inning. The lead was short lived as Webber fought back and tallied five in the bottom half of the inning. Eckerd then again scored in the fifth inning pushing two runs across the plate. The Warriors again scored in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game make the score 6-6. Eckerd scored again in the eighth and seemed to have the game won, but, but scored again in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extra innings. After four innings of blown opportunities for both teams, Regidor finally came through for Webber.
Starting on the mound for Webber was Josh Davis who tossed four innings giving up four runs on six hits while striking out three. Chris Kirk then toed the rubber and threw three innings allowing two runs on five hits before giving way to Will Arnold who threw the next five innings and gave up just one run on four hits. Carlo Galluccio (1-0), who picked up the win, finished the game not giving up a run in the last two innings.
Leading the way offensively for the Warriors was Ryan Jamison who collected four hits, drove in two, and scored three runs. Darin Jones also had a good night at the plate garnering three hits and while driving in a run himself. Randy Hernandez, who capped off the third inning rally with a three run home run, Shawn Mayhew, and Ryan Regidor all, had two hits apiece.
The Warriors are now 2-1 on the young season and will travel to Ave Maria, Florida this Thursday to take on Ave Maria University. For scores and highlights for the Warrior baseball team and all Webber sports log onto www.webberathletics.com.
