NAPLES, Fla. – The Webber baseball team traveled to Naples again to face the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University and came home victorious ending the game 15-5 in the eighth inning.
On the mound for the Warriors, Josh Davis started and threw the ball well before taking a line drive off the hand and having to leave the game after finishing the inning. Davis tossed three innings allowing two runs on two hits and struck out two. After Davis was hit by the line drive, Chris Kirk took over and threw three innings only giving up three hits before giving way to Carlo Galluccio, who pitched the last two innings giving up three runs on four hits. Kirk received the win and is 1-0 on the season.
Leading the way for Webber offensively was Shawn Mayhew who collected four hits and scored four runs. Mayhew also had two RBI. Tito Carrillo was three-for-four with three runs scored, three RBI, and collected his first home run as a Warrior. Ryan Jamison and Ryan Regidor each had two hits and two runs batted in. Regidor also blasted a home run over the left field wall during the contest.
The Warriors move to 3-2 on the season and will host the Gyrenes Saturday February 13th in a double header with the first pitch scheduled for noon.
