Women's Soccer Lost in 1st Round of The Sun Conference Tournament

Miami Gardens, Fla. – Webber International University's Women Soccer team lost in the first round of The Sun Conference Tournament 1-3 to St. Thomas University on November 4, 2010.

Lady Warriors finished their season with 8-8-1overall record and The Sun Conference record was 5-3-1. They were ranked 5th in their conference. 

In the 1st round of the conference playoff, the Bobcats scored first, and they scored once more in the first period to give them a 2-0 lead at half time. The Warriors did not go down without a fight. Lady Warriors scored first in the second period, but STU had one more goal to add to their lead, and that was the end of scoring for both teams. 

Lady Warriors played a good defensive game, only allowing 12 shots by STU and 5 of those shots were on goal. Makenzie Vance played the entire match where she had two saves and she allowed three goals. Suzannah Wyatt, Tatem Tietgen, Erin Spry, and Joy Rosano played a good defensive game, but it was not enough to stop Lady Bobcats attack game. 

The scoring summary goes as follow: Adrianna Rodriguez from STU dribbled down from the left side to slide the ball under the keeper's hands at the 13:52 minute mark. The second goal was scored by Sara Mira at the 23:09 minute mark, were she was led by Emily Vicci, the ball was tipped by Vance but it wasn't enough to stop the ball. In the second half, WIU scored at the 79:58 minute mark, Magen Carey passed back and forth with Kayde Kludge and she had the finishing blow on STU's goalie, Ariana Lorenzo. The final goal came in six minutes by STU before the match ended by Amanda Belarmino, she was assisted by Gabrielle Smith, and that was the end of the scoring for both teams. 

Webber had five shots and four were on goal, and one was a goal. St. Thomas had twelve shots and five were on goal, and three were goals. 

Webber International University women's soccer graduated two seniors; #3 Erin Spry and #17 Alexis Bershaw. Thank you seniors for your time and dedication to your team and to your university, we wish you the best in the future.
