Babson Park, Fla. – The Webber International men's basketball team clinch home opener win against, Trinity College 102-93, Tuesday, November 9th, in the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
The Warriors jumped on Trinity, leading by as many as ten points toward the end of the sixteenth minute. The team was carried by, senior,
Junior Geidi. Geidi accounted 14 points in the first half.
Tyler Hoevenaar and Tyler Aerbacher both collecting 8 points, while
Gabriel Rutledge followed with 7 points; at the end of the first quarter.
Webber held their lead for the entire first half but Trinity did make a comeback late in the first quarter cutting the Warriors lead down to two, from a three pointer by Jason Mascoll and the buzzer. Warriors led at the half, 49-47.
After the half, WIU struck first with a good three pointer, by Geidi. The Warriors continued to increase their lead as the game played on; taking another ten point lead again at the sixteenth minute mark.
The Warriors were no match for Trinity as they could not find their way back into the game. Webber led for the remainder of the second quarter, and collected their first win overall and at home, 102-93.
Leading Warriors for the night were: Tyler Auercacher with 29 points and 12 rebounds;
Gabriel Rutledge with 12 points and 16 rebounds;
Tyler Hoevenaar also collecting 12 points and 10 assist; and
Junior Geidi with 22 points.
The Warriors will take the road as they take on and exhibition game versus Clayton State University, at 7:30 p.m., in Atlanta, Ga., on November 15th. Webber's next home game will be Saturday, November 20th, versus Florida College. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
