Rodriguez Went 3 for 5 With 2 Runs, 2 RBI's and a Walk in The Loss

Warriors Fall To Eckerd 10-7

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- Webber International University's baseball team dropped their third game of the year to NCAA division two Eckerd College 10-7.
 
The Warriors tried to make a comeback scoring three runs in the eighth inning but saw their chances come up short as they had runners on in the ninth but a line drive hit by Adam Borgia was snagged to end the game.
 
Leading the way at the plate for the Warriors was freshman #Jose Rodriguez# who went three-for-five with runs scored and two runs driven in.  #Adam Borgia# also had a good night going three-for-four with two runs scored. #Alberto Burgos# continued to swing a scorching bat adding two more hits to move his multi-game hit streak to three games. Burgos scored two runs and drove in a run. #Chad Pearce# contributed with two hits and had a RBI. Anthony Ficarro chipped in with a pinch hit double off the right field wall in the ninth inning.
 
On the mound for the Warriors, freshman #Manny Rodriguez# started, throwing three and a third innings allowing seven runs on eight hits and picked up the loss. #Patrick Knowles# came in relief of Rodriguez tossing two and two thirds innings giving up three runs on four hits. #Drew Spitznogle# then came on to throw the next two innings only allowing one hit.
 
Starring at the plate for the Tritons was Matt Abraham who had three hits in five tries scoring two runs. Derek Makowski drove in three runs for the Tritons, all coming on a homerun off of Knowles in the fifth inning.
 
Adam Whitlow started on the mound for Eckerd throwing six innings giving up five runs on eight hits and picked up the win.
 
The loss drops the Warriors record to 7-3 on the year as Eckerd improves to 2-6. Webber will open up conference play this weekend as they will travel to Miami to play Florida Memorial on Friday February 15th at 2:45pm.
