SAVANNAH, Ga. – Webber International University defeated the Savannah College of Art and Design 25-23, 25-16, 15-25 and 25-14 Friday (Nov. 14) afternoon in the semifinals of 2008 The Sun Conference Volleyball Tournament that is being played at Savannah Country Day School.
The Warriors, who are the No. 2 seed, improved to 26-9 and will advance to Saturday's (Nov. 15) noon championship game where they will face the winner of the other semifinal between St. Thomas (Fla.) University and Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University later Friday (Nov. 14). No. 3 seed SCAD ended its season at 17-10.
Webber International University was led by Cindy Eurie's 12 kills while Kerri Romaniszyn added 10 more. Danelle Wagner had 23 assists while Trisha Belcher added 16. Wagner was one of three Warriors in double figures with 19 digs while Tammy Needham had 15 and Julianne Dougherty registered 10. Kristina Reeves had five total blocks and Jasmine Chriss and Ashley Naughton had four each.
Kendall Nichols led the Bees with 14 kills and Cathryn Gregson added 12. Allison Regas had 32 assists and 11 digs. Marina Tosi led the Bees with 17 digs while Friend tallied 12 and Arynn Nease contributed 11 more.
