West Palm Beach, Fla. - The WIU women's soccer team put a scare on the Northwood University ladies in the semi-final of The Sun Conference Tournament.  Playing at Northwood, in West Palm Beach, the Lady Warriors fell 3-1 to the #1 seeded Lady Seahawks.  A scrappy Webber team gave everything they had to the Northwood team, who advanced to the conference finals for the third straight year.

Northwood pressured the Lady Warriors early, as they lifted their overall record to 15-2.  Sofia Soras scored for the Lady Seahawks in the 25th minute.  Lisa Ohberg scored just before the half, on an assist by Soras, to give Northwood a 2-0 lead at half-time.

The Lady Warriors scored on a penalty kick early in the second half to cut the lead to 2-1.  Candice Cunningham, a senior from Canada, converted the kick for WIU.  Katya Salguero scored the final goal for Northwood, resulting in a 3-1 win for the Lady Seahawks.

Webber International completed the 2008 season with an 8-8-1 record.
