HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - For the second year in a row the Warriors men's soccer team fell to Savannah College of Art & Design in the semi-final of the Region XIV Tournament.

The Warriors fell to the Bees 2-1 after a very slow start.  The Bees jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first ten minutes and looked as though they would score many more.  However, the Warriors dug in and went into the half time break only two down after some fine work from #Tony Restino#.

In the second half the Warriors showed the fighting spirit to which their followers have become accustomed to.  Giving no quarter the Warriors flew into tackles with #Christain Hall# particularly being much more aggressive.  The Webber players were winning the 50-50 ball and were first to almost everything.  The Warriors looked to have broken through from a #David Wahlberg# corner only for the referee to call it back much to the amazement of both sets of players.

The opening Warriors goal came from the penalty spot after #Nick Weightman# was brought down.  He dusted himself off and showed great nerve to fire past the Bees' goalkeeper.  The Scottish, freshman scoring sensation added his 19th goal in 17 appearances.

It was all the Warriors now and wave after wave of attacking scheme was repelled by the Bees.  The final whistle came and the Warriors were beated 2-1.

"It is amazing to think we went into a semi-final with five freshmen in the starting eleven.  We are a very young team and it showed in the first half, however, we all dug in and fought with everything we had in the second half and ran SCAD around the pitch," commented John Haworth.  "If we had scored from Dave's (David Wahlberg) corner I truly believe we would have kicked on and won the game, but it was not meant to be.  I am very proud of the players for turning it around after it looked like we would be thrashed and show maturity above their years."
