Mr. Darren Richie joined Webber International University for his first year as the Director of Athletics in January 2017.
Richie has worked with student-athletes for over 30 years, and he last served at NCAA Division-II Colorado Christian University (Lakewood, Colo.) as the Director of Athletics. During his nine-year tenure at CCU (starting in 2007), Mr. Richie led CCU to four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Cup wins, appearances in 12 NCAA D-II National Tournaments, and appearances in over 30 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournaments with four national championship wins.
Also during his time at CCU, Richie added five sports and increased the student-athlete population from 140 to over 300. He also helped raise over three million dollars for the athletic department and led 10 mission trips serving with student-athletes in Costa Rica. CCU athletes maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 during Richie’s tenure, good for an average that even bested the school’s non-athletes.
During his career as Director of Athletics, Mr. Richie has been involved in both NCCAA and NCAA conference, regional and national committee and leadership work.
