Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Webber International University is excited to welcome Cornelius E. Richardson Sr. as an Assistant Coach for the women’s basketball team! Originally from St. Petersburg, FL, and a graduate of Manatee High School in Bradenton, FL. Richardson is a dynamic leader with a deep passion for developing athletes both on and off the court.

Richardson began his athletic journey at age five and thrived as a three-sport athlete in baseball, basketball, and football throughout his high school career. In 2005, He went on to become a dual-sport collegiate athlete at MidAmerica Nazarene University, excelling in both football and basketball before deciding to fight for America’s freedom in 2006,  where he became a decorated OIF 3 Army war veteran.

Currently pursuing an MBA in Sports Business Management, he balances his professional ambitions with his roles as a devoted husband to Brianna and father to eight children: Aviyon, Kingsley, Amaya, Ryleigh, Amir, Kairo, Kijani, and Cornelius Jr.

Richardson’s coaching career is distinguished by significant achievements. As Head Girls Basketball Coach at Lennard High School in Ruskin, FL, he led the team to the highest GPA in school history, the school’s first state regional tournament appearance, and the national leader in steals at an impressive 36.1 per game. His squad finished with a record 18 wins, earning him recognition as the Hillsborough County All-Star Head Coach and a Coach of the Year Runner-Up in 2022.

With a Master’s in Sport Psychology (2023) and a Bachelor’s in Psychology (2022), along with certifications in fitness, personal training, nutrition, and mental health first aid, Richardson combines academic expertise with practical experience. Most recently, as Assistant Coach at Hillsborough Community College in 2024, he played a key role in recruiting top talent, enhancing player skills, and contributing to the team’s best season in nearly a decade.

As he joins the Warrior family, Richardson is dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence and inspiring student-athletes to reach their fullest potential. Intent on daily personifying his motto “Champions Are Comfortable Being Uncomfortable”, Fans and alumni can look forward to an exciting new chapter in Webber International women’s basketball, driven by his energy and commitment!
