Joe Riordan

Joe Riordan joined the Warriors coaching staff in April 2016 and is the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs coach. 

In 2016, the Warrior secondary finished 6th Nationally in Pass Defense (155.1 yds/per game) while the Defensive unit as a whole finished 14th in Total Defense (324.8 yds/per game). Additionally, the Warriors were ranked 8th Nationally in Punt Returns averaging 14.1 yds/per return and 9th in Kick Returns averaging 21.1 yds/per return. 

In 2017, Coach Riordan was selected to the American Football Coaches Associations (AFCA) "30 under 30 Leadership Institute." He was one of three NAIA coaches honored with the prestigious recognition. The purpose of the program is to identify and train the next generation of leaders within the football coaching profession. The one-day event featured focused, interactive lectures on topics specifically tailored to emphasize influential leadership.
 
In 2012, Coach Riordan returned to high school sidelines at Bishop Ireton in Alexandria, VA. In his time there, he helped mentor a CB to 2nd Team All-Conference and All-Met honorable mention (Geno Miller, University of New Hampshire). In 2013, Coach Riordan moved back to Indianapolis to serve as the Defensive Backs coach at Fishers High School. In his time there, he helped lead one of the states best pass defenses (117.0 passing yards per game in 2013 & 2014 – school records for fewest passing TD’s) while helping the Tigers to a conference championship in 2013. In his time at Fishers, Coach Riordan was privileged to coach two Indiana Football Coaches Association Top 50 All-State & 6A AP All-State (Josh Lloyd, 2014 & Jeremy Chinn, 2015, Southern Illinois University). Furthermore, he was also privileged to coach a MaxPreps Freshman All-American (2013) and two-time IFCA Junior All-State (2014 & 2015 R.J. Potts, University of Cincinnati).  

A native of Indianapolis, IN, he attended Ball State University, where, he served as a football operations intern prior to becoming a student assistant coach working primarily with defensive backs for the 2010 season. He assisted the defensive staff with practices, weekly scouting reports, recruiting, and positional meetings. He finished his B.S. in Sports Administration with a concentration in management in the spring of 2011. As an athlete, Coach Riordan played cornerback for Bishop Chatard High School from 2004 – 2007. In 2006, his team captured the 2007 Indiana 3A State Championship. He is married to Sarah and the couple resides in Bartow, FL.
