Charles (Chuck) Kelly joined Webber International University for the 2012 season and is now entering his seventh season with the Warriors. Coach Kelly came to the Warriors from Charleston Southern University.
Kelly also has experience working for a recruiting service. His many years of coaching started as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Mississippi. No stranger to the Big South Conference, Kelly worked as an Offensive Line Coach for Liberty University from 1985-1993. He also served as the Offensive Line Coach and Running Backs Coach at the University of South Carolina. He followed that with a one-year stint as the Offensive Line Coach for East Carolina University.
While at CSU, Kelly guided six linemen to all-conference honors, with Shawn Huntsinger, DeAndre Harrison and Bryan Meers all earning the nod in 2005. Rick Howell and Alex Bragg each earning the honor for the 2006 season, and Howell repeating the honor in 2007 and J.W. Myers earning it in 2009. Kelly’s line was a key part of a revitalized running game, including the second-highest rushing total in school history in 2009. The team finished fifth in the country in sacks given up, only allowing nine all season.
As an athlete, Kelly finished 12th in the nation in the National Power Lifting Association at Louisiana Tech. He played football for Mississippi Delta Junior College before moving on to Louisiana Tech. After graduating, Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Louisiana Tech. He also has an Associate of Arts degree from Mississippi Delta Junior College.
