Assistant Coach Robert Hollis

Robert comes to Webber International University as the Men’s and Women’s Assistant Tennis Coach after serving as a Tennis Director and Teaching Professional in Polk County for the past 34 years. As a USPTA Tennis Professional Robert holds a P-1 rating and has distinguished himself by receiving many awards as a teacher and as a USTA volunteer. He currently serves as the USTA Florida Section secretary on the Executive Board.

In 1996, he received the Male Merit Award which is given to the person who is most deserving of the respect and honor of all volunteers either in play or organizational work for having made the greatest contribution to amateur tennis in Florida for that year. That same year he also won the National Award as volunteer of the year of USTA Junior Team Tennis. In 2000, Robert received the USTA/USPTA Florida Division Service Award. This award is given to the person demonstrating leadership and vision in promoting both the USTA Florida Section and the United States Professional Tennis Association.

Robert grew up in Winter Haven where he started his playing career at Winter Haven High School and then two years at Polk Community College. He attended Flagler College where he helped his team finish the 1977 season with a 32-2 record and win the NAIA National Championship. This past April, Robert was inducted into the Flagler College Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1977 Championship Team.

Robert has been married to his wife, Alice, for 32 years. They have two sons, Blake and Drew, both of who played college tennis.
