The Webber International University men's soccer team struck first against SCAD Savannah, but the Bees responded and pulled away late to hand the Warriors a 5-1 defeat.

Webber opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Jose D'Lima found the back of the net at the 13:22 mark. Dylan Salomon provided the assist, giving the Warriors an early 1-0 advantage.

SCAD answered in the 22nd minute when Sebastian Gomez converted a penalty kick to level the match at 1-1. Gomez struck again at 30:28, this time off an assist from Tim Rothe, sending SCAD into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

Despite trailing at the break, Webber remained within striking distance for much of the second half. The Warriors' defense and goalkeeper kept SCAD off the scoreboard for nearly 49 minutes following its second goal.

SCAD eventually broke through again in the 80th minute. Gomez completed his hat trick at 79:20, with Rothe recording his second assist of the match, to extend the Bees' advantage to 3-1.

SCAD added two more goals in quick succession during the closing minutes. Nicolas Lozano scored at 81:32 before Lucas Braganca found the net at 83:30, producing the final 5-1 scoreline.

The Bees finished the match with a 15-9 advantage in total shots and placed 13 shots on goal compared to three for the Warriors. Webber's goalkeeper recorded eight saves, while SCAD finished with two.

The match was much closer in corner kicks, with SCAD holding a narrow 5-4 advantage. The physical contest featured 33 total fouls, with SCAD committing 20 and Webber 13.

Four Warriors received yellow cards during the match. Justin Ruiz was booked at 40:26, followed by Jose D'Lima at 54:54, Rodnny Gonzalez at 56:14, and Hector Vazquez at 77:56. SCAD received three yellow cards.

Webber's lone goal came from D'Lima, while Salomon earned the assist. The Warriors will look to regroup and turn their attention toward their next matchup.
