HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Webber International University women's soccer team opened Sun Conference play Saturday afternoon, falling 4-0 to SCAD Savannah at SAC.
The Warriors battled through a scoreless opening 15 minutes before SCAD broke through in the 16th minute, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal from Lovisa Henell.
Webber entered halftime trailing by just one, but SCAD added to its advantage early in the second half when Saga Biorklund found the back of the net in the 50th minute.
The Warriors continued to battle, but SCAD added two insurance goals late in the match. Henell scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 84th minute before Haidyn Jenkins capped the scoring less than two minutes later.
Brylee Kamm kept the Warriors within striking distance throughout the contest, making nine saves on 13 SCAD shots on goal.
MaKenzee Feskanin paced the Webber attack with three shots, including two on goal, while Ariana Suarez added two shots. The Warriors finished with eight total shots and two shots on frame.
SCAD held a 24-8 advantage in shots and a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
The loss moves Webber to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in Sun Conference play.
The Warriors return to action Saturday, October 3, traveling to Sarasota to face New College of Florida at 1 p.m.
