WEBBER WOMEN'S SOCCER DOMINATES FLORIDA COLLEGE, 9-1
BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University women's soccer team put together a dominant offensive performance on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Florida College, 9-1, on September 15.
The Warriors wasted little time getting on the board, as Sophia Schlager opened the scoring in the 16th minute off an assist from Morgan Myers. Florida College answered in the 21st minute to briefly tie the match at 1-1.
Schlager quickly put Webber back in front, scoring her second goal of the afternoon in the 29th minute. MaKenzee Feskanin added another goal just over three minutes later before converting a penalty kick in the 38th minute to give the Warriors a 4-1 advantage heading into halftime.
Webber continued its offensive attack in the second half. Ariana Suarez scored in the 51st minute to extend the lead to 5-1, followed by a goal from Olof Sigurdardottir in the 61st minute.
The Warriors continued to pour on the pressure late in the match. Elisabet Olafiudottir scored in the 79th minute, Mia Gallina found the back of the net in the 83rd minute, and Olafiudottir added her second goal of the match in the 87th minute off an assist from Sigurdardottir to cap the scoring at 9-1.
Schlager and Feskanin each finished with two goals, while Olafiudottir also recorded a pair of goals off the bench. Sigurdardottir finished with one goal and one assist, while Myers recorded an assist.
Webber controlled the match offensively, out shooting Florida College 57-1 and putting 35 shots on goal. The Warriors also held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Brylee Kamm played all 90 minutes in goal for Webber, allowing one goal and recording no saves as Florida College managed just one shot.
The victory moves Webber to 1-4 on the season, while Florida College falls to 1-5.
