TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Webber International University men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Florida College on Tuesday night at Qualls Field.
The Warriors entered the match with a 2-3-1 record and looked to bounce back after a 4-1 setback against Carolina University on Sept. 10.
Webber's defense held Florida College to just six total shots throughout the match, while goalkeeper Alejandro Moreno made three saves in the contest.
The only goal of the match came in the 17th minute when Florida College's John Solis converted a penalty kick following a red card issued to Webber's Mateo Lozada.
Despite playing a man down for the majority of the match, the Warriors continued to create opportunities. Webber recorded seven total shots, including six on goal, while Florida College goalkeeper Ismael Hererra made six saves.
Rodnny González and Jack Chalmers each recorded a shot on goal during the first half, while Dylan Salomon added two shots on target in the second half. Jose Dlima also recorded two shots, including one on goal.
Webber gained a numerical advantage in the 64th minute when Florida College's Timothy Kovacs received a red card, but the Warriors were unable to find the equalizer in the final 26 minutes.
The Warriors continued to pressure the Florida College defense late in the match, with Chalmers forcing a save in the 84th minute and Salomon recording another shot on target in the 90th minute.
Despite the loss, Webber held Florida College to one goal and finished with three corner kicks and six shots on goal.
