Warriors Battle Back but Fall 4-2 to Southeastern in 2026 Season Opener

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Webber International University women's soccer team opened the 2026 season Thursday night, battling back from a three-goal deficit before ultimately falling 4-2 to Southeastern University at SEU Soccer Field.
The Warriors (0-1) trailed 1-0 at halftime before Southeastern extended its lead early in the second half. Webber responded with two goals in a span of just over two minutes to make it a one-goal match, but the Fire answered with a late goal to secure the victory.

How it happened

  • 43rd minute – Southeastern opened the scoring when Olivia Hadad found the back of the net to give the Fire a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
  • 68th minute – Danielle Vogel doubled the Southeastern advantage, making it 2-0.
  • 76th minute – Eden Greenfield added another goal for the Fire to push the lead to 3-0.
  • 77th minute – Webber answered as Sydney Aldeghi scored the Warriors' first goal of the season off an assist from Morgan Myers.
  • 79th minute – Just over a minute later, Sophia Schlager found the back of the net off another Myers assist, cutting the deficit to 3-2.
  • 80th minute – Southeastern responded quickly as Hadad scored her second goal of the night to make it 4-2.

Myers led the Warriors offensively with two assists, while Aldeghi and Schlager each scored their first goals of the 2026 campaign. Tatum Moore recorded two shots, including one on goal. In goal, Brylee Kamm made five saves for the Warriors.

Despite the setback, Webber showed its resilience by turning a 3-0 deficit into a 3-2 match in the final 15 minutes before Southeastern added the deciding goal.
The Warriors return to action Saturday, August 22, hosting Florida Memorial University at Warrior Grass Field. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
