Warriors Sweep Doubleheader over Lions

Miami Gardens, FL – The Webber International team used a late push in the opener and then broke the nightcap open with steady offense to sweep Florida Memorial in Friday's doubleheader in Miami Gardens, taking game one 6-4 in 10 innings before claiming game two 10-2 in seven innings.

In the opener, the Warriors erased an early 4-0 deficit and finally pulled ahead for good in extra innings. Keegan Martin got Webber on the board with a two-run home run in the third, and the Warriors trimmed the margin to one when Steven Nitch delivered an RBI single. Webber kept pressuring Florida Memorial throughout the afternoon, then broke through in the 10th when Jalen Martinez ripped a two-run double to left-center to score Ty Mathews and Mike Cuello for the deciding runs.

Mason Veronezi gave Webber 5.1 innings with nine strikeouts, Gregory Bori worked effectively out of the bullpen, and Zach Hessler shut the door in the 10th with two strikeouts to finish off the win. At the plate, Martin drove in two, Martinez went 3-for-6 with two RBIs, Tugg Hollandsworth collected three hits and an RBI, and Nitch added a run-scoring hit.

Webber carried that momentum into game two and struck early. In the second inning, Steven Nitch walked, Jalen Martinez singled, and Austen Jaslove lined an RBI single through the left side before Will Gisriel reached on a fielder's choice, with Martinez scoring on a throwing error. Martin scored Gisriel on a single to give Webber a 3-1 lead. The Warriors added another run in the fourth on Gisriel's RBI double, then turned the game into a rout in the sixth and seventh. In the sixth, David Zamora drove in Martinez on a double during a three-run frame, and Mathews delivered another two-run knock. Gisriel brought home Nitch and Cuello before Zamora brought home Jaslove to make it 10-2 in the scheduled 7 inning game.

Caleb Fones earned the game-two win after allowing two runs over six innings, while Tyler Helton handled the final frame. Offensively, Webber pounded out 14 hits, led by Jaslove's 3-for-4, one-RBI effort, Mathews' two hits and two RBIs, and Gisriel's three RBIs. The sweep moved the Warriors to 25-12 overall and 12-3 in conference
