Warriors Dominate Braves Behind 14 Assists from Loo

Ottawa, KS – The 8th ranked Webber International Men's Lacrosse team put together a complete performance on Tuesday, cruising past Ottawa, 28-3, at AdventHealth Field. The Warriors improved to 4-2 on the season behind a blistering start that essentially decided the night within the opening 15 minutes.

Webber wasted no time getting going, ripping off the game's first seven goals in the opening 10:00. Sam Shields was in attack mode early, burying four goals in the first 4:40 (14:40, 13:58, 12:08 and 10:20), setting the tone for a first quarter that never slowed down. Nick Sheaffer got on the board at 8:04, Ethan Baker followed with a pair (6:13 and 3:40), and Max Cary added another at 5:59 as the Warriors built a 7-0 cushion. Ottawa broke through at 4:22, but Webber answered immediately and closed the quarter with five straight—including a power-play goal from Sheaffer at 1:13 and a Shields finish at the horn—to take a 12-1 lead after one.

The avalanche continued in the second. Ottawa scored early (13:51), but Webber responded with a 10-goal quarter to take a 22-2 halftime advantage. Sheaffer was the headliner in the period, scoring five times, and the Warriors even struck shorthanded when Sheaffer finished at 4:54 off a feed from Jeremiah Loo. Benjamin Sheldon, Shields, Loo, and Cary also found the net in the second as Webber kept the pressure on in transition and settled offense.

After the break, Webber stayed sharp and stretched the margin with a 4-0 third quarter. Samuel Castillo recorded a hat trick in the period (three straight Warriors goals), and Isaiah Espaillat added one as the visitors pushed the lead to 26-2 entering the fourth. Webber tacked on two more in the final quarter—Cary scored again and Joseph Xiarhos added the last goal of the game—before Ottawa's final tally at 12:49 set the 28-3 final.

Statistically, the Warriors controlled every phase: 55-9 in shots (41-6 on goal), 27-8 at the faceoff X, and 49-23 in ground balls. Loo orchestrated the offense with 14 assists (and two goals), while Sheaffer (8 goals, 5 assists) and Shields (7 goals, 5 assists) powered the scoring. In goal, Liam Murphy earned the win with three saves over 45 minutes, and Castillo finished the final 10 minutes with one save.
