Warriors Explode for 36 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of Gyrenes

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Baseball team exploded for a doubleheader sweep in SUN Conference play over Ave Maria on Friday in Babson Park, rolling to a 13-3 win in the opener before following it up with a 23-4 rout in game two. The Warriors piled up 36 runs and 28 hits across the two games, overwhelming the Gyrenes with big innings in both ends of the twin bill.

In game one, Webber set the tone immediately with a five-run first inning and never looked back. Ty Mathews, Jalen Martinez, Mike Cuello, and Austen Jaslove all had RBIs as Webber took the lead.

Ave Maria got single runs in the third and a two-run push in the fifth in the opener, but the Warriors had more than enough offense to answer every threat. Webber's pitching staff absorbed a pair of Gyrene home runs yet still secured the comfortable win as the bats continued to separate the game late.

Game two turned into an even bigger offensive outburst. Webber scored 23 runs on 15 hits, while Ave Maria managed just four runs on eight hits. The Warriors drew 11 walks and blasted three home runs in the seven-inning victory, putting crooked numbers on the board repeatedly. Tugg Hollandsworth and Mike Cuello each delivered one of the biggest swings of the night, both launching grand slams, and Webber kept adding on from there as the margin ballooned into a runaway.

Ave Maria scored once in the first, added two in the sixth and one more in the seventh, but Webber's offense never let the game stay close. The Warriors got production up and down the lineup in a complete team effort. By the end of the day, Webber had turned a conference doubleheader into a statement sweep.
