Loo and Sheaffer Both Hit 200 Career Goal Mark, Loo Nets Game Winner Against Patriots

Williamsburg, KY - The 9th ranked Webber International Men's Lacrosse team battled through a wild back-and-forth road contest on Thursday, coming away with a 14-13 overtime victory over Cumberlands at the UC Lacrosse Complex in a game where both Jeremiah Loo and Nick Sheaffer scored their 200th career goals in a Webber uniform. The Warriors built a strong early cushion, weathered a big third-quarter push from the Patriots, and got the winner from Loo in the extra session to improve to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

Webber seized control early after falling behind 1-0, answering with a 5-1 run in the opening quarter. Nick Sheaffer tied the match at 10:06 off an assist from Loo, Sam Shields put the Warriors in front at 7:00, and Loo scored twice in a span of just 1:12 to make it 4-1. After Cumberlands cut into the margin, Sheaffer struck again with 58 seconds left in the first to send Webber into the second quarter with a 5-2 lead.

The Warriors kept the pressure on in the second. Sheaffer opened Webber's scoring in the period, Shields followed with another finish off a Loo assist, and Loo added his third of the day before Sheaffer capped the half with his fourth goal in the final 17 seconds. That surge gave Webber a 9-3 halftime advantage and put the visitors in firm command heading into the break.

Cumberlands made its move in the third, scoring seven times in the quarter and trimming what had been a six-goal deficit. Webber answered key stretches with goals from Loo at 8:08 and Shields at 3:03, but the Patriots kept charging and eventually pulled even late in regulation. In the fourth, Branden Sheaffer and Ethan Baker each found the net for the Warriors, yet Cumberlands continued to answer and forced overtime after a late equalizer.

In overtime, Webber got the final word. Loo delivered the game-winner at the 2:17 mark of the extra period, finishing off a huge individual performance that included five goals and three assists. Sheaffer added four goals and an assist, Shields posted three goals and three assists, and Baker chipped in a goal and an assist. In goal, Colton Renkiewicz turned in a major effort with 23 saves as Webber held off Cumberlands despite facing 54 shots.

By the numbers, Webber totaled 25 shots and 18 shots on goal, while Loo's overtime winner stood as the game-winner. Israel Miranda helped at the faceoff stripe with nine wins, Alan Basic added five more, and Malachi LaRue led the Warriors with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. Cumberlands was paced by Dom Lulow's six goals, but Webber's early offensive burst and late composure proved enough to leave Kentucky with a one-goal conference win.
