Marietta, GA – The Webber International Men's Volleyball team fell in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, dropping an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup to Life by scores of 25-13, 25-23, and 25-18 at the Upper Gym. The Warriors showed their best fight in the second set, nearly extending the match before the Running Eagles closed it out for the 3-0 win.
Life controlled the opening set behind an efficient attack, hitting .810 in the frame to build separation early and take the set 25-13. Webber answered with a much stronger performance in the second, erasing an early deficit and trimming the margin to 24-23 late in the set after back-to-back points from Brennan Porter and a Life attack error. However, the Running Eagles found the final point they needed to escape with the 25-23 decision and a two-set lead.
The third set was more competitive early, featuring five ties and two lead changes. Webber stayed within striking distance and trailed just 16-14 after a block from Brennan Porter, but Life responded down the stretch to pull away and seal the match with a 25-18 win.
Janis Dobelis led the Warriors offensively with nine kills on a .294 hitting percentage, while Jordan Diaz added six kills and hit .444. Brennan Porter also turned in an efficient effort, recording four kills on five attempts with no errors for an .800 clip, while adding a team-best two total blocks. Gavin Patterson finished with four kills and the team's lone service ace, and Noah Riascos contributed four kills and three digs.
Webber totaled 28 kills and 27 assists in the match, with Mateus Haubrich dishing out 17 assists and Talan Stephens adding six. Defensively, the Warriors posted 14 digs, with Patterson, Haubrich, and Riascos each collecting three. Life countered with a .443 team hitting percentage and 43 kills, led by Serano Keijl's 16 kills and Vincent Eisinga's 10.
