Warriors Fall in Doubleheader to Mariners

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Softball team dropped both ends of its Sun Conference doubleheader against Coastal Georgia on Friday, falling 12-1 in six innings in game one before suffering a 9-0 setback in five innings in game two.

In the opener, Coastal Georgia broke a 1-1 game open with a two-run fourth, a four-run fifth, and a six-run sixth to pull away for the run-rule victory. Webber scored its lone run in the bottom of the first, but the Warriors were limited to just three hits the rest of the way. Thalia Romero and Samantha Hudson each doubled, while Sami Franz added a single. Abigayle Ellison drove in Webber's only run.

Rylee Mills paced Coastal Georgia in game one both in the circle and at the plate, tossing a complete game while also collecting two hits and an RBI. Mackenzie Southerland drove in five runs for the visitors, and Rily Andrews added four RBI as Coastal Georgia finished with 11 hits.

Game two followed a similar script, as Coastal Georgia struck for three runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Mariners added four more in the fourth and two in the fifth to complete the sweep. Webber managed three hits in the contest, with Romero, Dominica Kohout, and Sommer Zier-Norris each recording one.

Coastal Georgia totaled 12 hits in the second game, led by Rily Andrews' three-hit performance. Emma Jones, Rylee Mills, Mackenzie Southerland, and Brooke Perdue each drove in two runs, while Emilia Clemons and McKenzie Collins combined on the five-inning shutout in the circle.
