Hattiesburg, MS – The 5th ranked Webber International Men's Golf team won its second tournament of the spring semester at the Carey Collegiate Presented by Walk-On's Monday and Tuesday. Christopher Richards Jr. led the team for his second straight individual victory, while Vedant Sirohi was just behind his teammate in second.
Richards Jr. paced the Warriors across all three rounds, finishing at 12-under for the tournament after rounds of 69, 66, and 66 for a 201 total. After opening with a solid 2-under first round, Richards Jr. caught fire over the final 36 holes, carding back-to-back 66s to secure the top spot among Webber golfers.
Sirohi was right behind him at 10-under overall, turning in rounds of 67, 69, and 67 for a 203 total. He opened the tournament with a 4-under effort, stayed consistent in round two, and closed with another 67 to give Webber two players under double digits for the week.
Tristan Greenleaf also finished third for the Warriors, shooting rounds of 73, 72, and 70 to end at 2-over overall with a 215. His best round came in the finale, where he bounced back with a 1-under 70. Kyle Miller added rounds of 71, 74, and 73 to finish at 5-over with a 218, while Ismael Garcia Ramirez recorded scores of 73, 77, and 71 to place at 8-over with a 221. Competing individually, Jacob Ingham posted rounds of 77, 72, and 74 to finish at 10-over for the tournament.
As a team, the Warriors were consistent from start to finish, shooting 280 in round one, 281 in round two, and their best score of the event, 274, in the final round. Webber's final-round push was fueled by Richards Jr.'s 66, Sirohi's 67, Greenleaf's 70, and Garcia Ramirez's 71, showing the lineup's depth as the tournament came to a close.
This win for the Richards Jr. is the 4th individual tournament win for the Warriors in the Spring, and the second straight for him individually. The Warriors team title is the 2nd in 4 chances this semester.
After the tournament, Head Coach Stuart Winsby was proud of his teams accomplishments, especially heading into round three.
"The Warriors overturned a 7 shot deficit after round 2 to win by 4 shots. A momentous -10 in the final round to finish at -17 for the tournament. This has smashed the scoring record to par by 12 shots which we broke in the Fall (-5). Chris goes back to back wins after he shoots 66 in round 2 and 3 to win by 2 shots over Vedant who finished 2nd on his own. Vedant would finish the tournament at -10. Chris also broke the scoring record by a Warrior at -12. Make that 4 individual wins in as many tournaments for the Warriors and the 2nd team win of the semester, they are only heating up. Every player contributed so much to the win this week and I couldn't be more proud of every one of them. The grit and grind from this team is unmatched. We will be back in action at the end of the month as we travel back north to the 2026 Roadrunner Classic"
