Lakeland, FL – The Webber International Women's Basketball battled to the wire in the SUN Conference Tournament Championship Game, but came up just short in a 64-58 setback at Southeastern inside The Furnace.
The Warriors put together their best stretch before halftime, using a strong second quarter to take a 33-24 lead into the break. After trailing 16-14 at the end of the first, Webber tightened up defensively and outscored the Fire 19-8 in the second to swing momentum and build a nine-point cushion.
Southeastern answered coming out of the locker room, trimming the margin in the third and then taking control late. The Fire outscored Webber 21-16 in the third to pull within 49-45, then won the fourth quarter 19-9 to complete the comeback and secure the six-point win.
Jaiden Ross led Webber with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Camryn Patterson filled the stat sheet with 11 points, seven assists, and four steals. Adaya Montalvo provided a lift off the bench with 10 points as Webber finished the night shooting 40.0% from the field and 46.2% from three (6-of-13).
Southeastern was fueled by Grace Field, who posted 18 points and 15 rebounds with five steals, and Webber was forced to battle a significant rebounding gap as the Fire held a 41-33 edge on the glass, including 14 offensive boards. Southeastern also finished 18-of-26 at the free-throw line, helping seal the game down the stretch.
