Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Basketball team used a third-quarter surge and a clutch closing stretch to defeat Florida Memorial, 60-55, in Sun Conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
Florida Memorial led 11-9 after the first quarter and carried a 27-24 advantage into halftime, before pushing its margin to as many as 10 late in the third. Trailing 39-29 with 3:11 left in the period, the Warriors responded with a 12-0 run to flip the game—capped by a Renae Brant jumper at the horn to send Webber into the fourth up 41-39.
The Warriors kept the momentum in the final frame, stretching the lead to their largest of the day at 51-43 with 6:19 remaining, and held off a late Lion push by converting free throws in the final minute to seal the win. Webber outscored Florida Memorial 19-16 in the fourth after taking the third quarter 17-12.
Jaiden Ross led Webber with 20 points, while Camryn Patterson added 13 points, six assists, and six steals. Adaya Montalvo chipped in 10 points with a pair of 3-pointers.
Webber forced 24 Florida Memorial turnovers and finished with 15 steals, turning those takeaways into a 26-15 edge in points off turnovers. Florida Memorial was led by Sa'mya Stevens (17 points), Kalea Rainey (14), and Jasmine Worthy (10 points, 9 rebounds).
