Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men's Volleyball team was swept by Reinhardt in straight sets (25-20, 25-21, 25-17) in a conference match Saturday afternoon in Babson Park, Florida.
The Eagles controlled the opener, never relinquishing the lead on the way to a 25-20 win, then jumped out fast in the second set with a 6-0 start before holding off the Warriors, 25-21, to take a 2-0 advantage. Webber's best push came in the third, using an early run to grab a 10-6 edge, but Reinhardt answered with a surge of its own, turning the set with a 15-13 lead and closing on a strong finish to seal the sweep, 25-17.
Reinhardt's balance at the net proved decisive, posting 40 kills on a .239 hitting percentage, while adding seven service aces and 6.0 total team blocks. Webber totaled 19 kills and hit .029 on the afternoon, with 18 assists and 27 digs.
For Webber, Gavin Patterson and Janis Dobelis shared the team lead with six kills apiece, with Dobelis also pacing the back row with nine digs. Talan Stephens dished out 12 assists to go with three digs, and the Warriors received additional defensive help from Mateus Haubrich (two digs) and Max Kuhn (two digs) as they tried to extend rallies.
Reinhardt was led offensively by Decklan Fongbemi, Gabriel Gutierrez, and Rigdon Hunter with eight kills each, while Christian Ribeiro Jardim recorded 20 assists. The Eagles improved to 10-3 (5-1) on the season, while Webber moved to 0-8 (0-5).
