Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men's Basketball team held off a late Coastal Georgia rally to earn a 71-70 Sun Conference win on Wednesday night in Babson Park. The Warriors honored five senior before the game, Jeremiah Green, Landon Tillman, Deon Brown, Johnny Torrence Jr., and Nirobi Peeler Jr.
The Warriors led 32-28 at the break and stretched the margin to as many as 11 in the second half, using balanced scoring and strong work on the glass to control long stretches. Thomas Morgan was a force inside all night, and Webber's defense protected the rim when it mattered most.
Coastal Georgia answered with a push down the stretch, taking a 70-69 lead with 49 seconds left. Webber responded immediately when Landon Tillman finished a tying layup with than a minute remaining, then the Warriors earned a trip to the line in the final seconds. Deon Brown calmly knocked down two free throws with 17 seconds left to put Webber back in front 71-70.
The Mariners had one last look, but Webber delivered the closing play defensively—Morgan swatted away a potential game-winning layup attempt with four seconds on the clock, and Nirobi Peeler Jr. secured the rebound to seal it.
Brown led all scorers with 19 points (including 6-for-6 at the stripe), while Morgan posted a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double. Peeler added 15 points behind five 3-pointers, and Tillman chipped in 13. Webber shot 45.5% from the field and 47.1% from three (8-for-17), won the rebounding battle 32-25, and finished with five blocks. Coastal Georgia was paced by Jeremiah Camara (16) and Preston Crisp (14), as the Mariners hit nine threes and rallied late before Webber's final defensive stand.
