Men’s Basketball Earns First Win of Kardok Era, Downs Point 99-80

BABSON PARK, Fla. — The Webber International University men's basketball team opened its home schedule in impressive fashion on Saturday, earning a 99-80 victory over Point University at Jessica Costanzo Court inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center. The win marked the first of the Ryan Kardok era as the Warriors improved to 1-0 on the season.

Webber set the tone early, putting together a strong first half to take a 53-40 lead into the break. The Warriors continued to build on that advantage in the second half, using an efficient offensive performance to pull away and secure the 19-point victory.

The Warriors shot an impressive 60.3 percent from the field, connecting on 41 of 68 attempts. Webber also dominated inside, outscoring Point 64-28 in points in the paint, while its bench contributed 44 points to help power the offensive attack.

Quamar Hobbs, Malachi Williams and Josh Middlebrooks led the Warriors with 14 points apiece. Hobbs added four rebounds and three assists, while Williams knocked down two three-pointers.

Middlebrooks provided an efficient spark off the bench, shooting 7-of-8 from the field.

Ashton Lovette added 12 points, while Kaelin Thomas finished with 11 points and a team-high four assists. Iverson Plaza and Marvel Chambers Jr. chipped in nine points apiece, helping Webber showcase its offensive depth throughout the contest.

Webber's balanced scoring attack and ability to finish around the basket proved pivotal as the Warriors established control and maintained their advantage down the stretch.

The victory gives Kardok and the Warriors an encouraging start to the 2026-27 campaign, with Webber looking to carry the momentum into its upcoming home contests.
