Warriors Unable to Contain Fire

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Men's Basketball team dropped an 84-57 Sun Conference decision to Southeastern (14-1, 4-0 The Sun Conference) on Saturday afternoon in Babson Park. The Fire controlled the game from the opening tip, building a 46-30 halftime lead and never letting the Warriors get closer than eight the rest of the way.

Southeastern set the tone early with efficient offense and constant pressure, opening on a 7-0 burst and pushing the margin to 16 at the break. Webber responded with its best stretch spanning the final minutes of the first half and the start of the second, putting together a 10-0 run to trim the deficit to 46-38, but the Fire answered quickly and re-established control. A late 11-0 Southeastern surge stretched the lead to its largest at 82-55 with 1:48 remaining, sealing the road conference win.

Johnny Torrence Jr. led Webber with 18 points while filling the stat sheet with four steals and two blocks. Landon Tillman added 12 points, and Thomas Morgan posted a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. For Southeastern, Mylo Santos paced all scorers with 24 points (10-of-16 shooting) and three steals, while Daivion Traylor scored 22 on 10-of-13 shooting and swatted three shots. Nathan Mikkelson chipped in 10 points, eight boards, and three blocks, and Jayson Nixon went a perfect 3-for-4 from three with six assists.

The difference came down to efficiency: Southeastern shot 55.9% from the floor (33-of-59) and finished with 54 points in the paint, while Webber shot 34.4% (21-of-61) and struggled from deep at 2-of-18 (11.1%). The Warriors won the rebounding battle, 37-32, but the Fire's 19 assists, 9 steals, and 10 fast-break points helped them pull away.
