Warriors Look Ahead to Conference Tournament After Series with Mariners

Brunswick, GA – The Webber International Softball team ended the regular season with a SUN series against the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners. The Warriors fought tough but ultimately fell in all three games. Webber now looks towards the SUN Conference tournament in Clearwater, Florida where they will be the 5 seed.

Game 1: Coastal Georgia Dominates, 10-1 After a scoreless start, Coastal Georgia exploded offensively in the third and fourth innings, scoring two and four runs respectively, highlighted by M. Southerla's two-RBI triple. WIU briefly responded with a solo home run by T. Romero in the fifth inning, but Coastal Georgia immediately extended the lead with four additional runs, capitalizing on WIU defensive errors to seal a commanding 10-1 victory.

Game 2: Coastal Georgia Shuts Out WIU, 9-0 Coastal Georgia continued their offensive dominance, scoring consistently through the first four innings. R. Smith's three-run homer in the fourth inning served as the major blow in this game. Strong pitching performance and solid defense prevented WIU from mounting any significant threats, resulting in a comfortable 9-0 shutout win for Coastal Georgia.

Game 3: Late Error Gives Coastal Georgia Narrow 2-1 Victory The final game was tightly contested. WIU took an early lead in the second inning with an RBI double from S. Hudson. Coastal Georgia tied the game immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Both teams remained locked at 1-1 until the bottom of the seventh, when two crucial WIU errors allowed Coastal Georgia to score the winning run, earning a dramatic 2-1 walk-off victory.
