Kingsport, TN – The Webber International Men's Volleyball team competed in the AAC Men's Volleyball team hosted in Kingsport, Tennessee. The Warriors went to the championship game for the third year in a row, taking down Life and Reinhardt along the way, ultimately falling to St. Thomas in the championship 3 sets to 1.
In their match against Life, Webber International began with a hard-fought first set, edging out Life 28-26 after an intense back-and-forth battle marked by key performances from Kevin Reiz and Carson Barnes. The second set saw another close competition, with Life clinching the set 25-22, powered by crucial kills and defensive blocks. The Warriors got back to form in the third set, wining 25-21. In the fourth set, Webber took early control and never relented, completing the 3-1 match with a decisive 25-18 victory.
Facing Reinhardt, Webber continued their dominance. The first set was tight initially, but Webber International pulled ahead through consistent attacking by Barnes, finishing the set 25-21. The second set mirrored the competitiveness of the first, with Reinhardt challenging Webber throughout. However, Webber's strategic playmaking and decisive blocks secured another 25-21 win. Webber concluded their victory in commanding fashion in the fourth set, after a set three win by Reinhardt, taking control early and securing a comfortable 25-17 finish.
Against St. Thomas, Webber experienced their toughest competition. The first set featured an extended battle, pushing well beyond the usual scoring limits, with St. Thomas eventually taking the set 32-30. St. Thomas won the second set convincingly at 25-11. Webber gained momentum in the third set, narrowly edging out St. Thomas 25-23. They carried their confidence into the fourth set, but ultimately St. Thomas prevailed 25-19 to seal the match victory.
Overall, Webber International showcased impressive teamwork, strategic adaptability, and consistent performances from key players, securing victories across all three challenging matches.
