Warriors Dominate Cavaliers Despite Delay

Montreat, NC – In a game that featured an air quality delay forcing the game to be played both Friday and Saturday, the 2nd Webber International Men's Lacrosse team delivered a dominant, wire-to-wire performance against Montreat, controlling all four quarters and showing off a deep and balanced offensive attack. From the opening face-off, the Warriors made a statement and never let up, cruising to a 26-3 victory.


First Quarter: Statement Start

Webber set the tone early, scoring six unanswered goals in the opening frame:


Second Quarter: Webber Widens the Gap

The Warriors picked up right where they left off, adding six more goals in the second quarter:

  • Bentley King and Colon-Prinzo scored early to push the lead to 8-0.
  • Montreat finally got on the board at 10:19 with a goal by Garrett Thomson, assisted by Gavin Mottram.
  • But Webber responded with a flurry: Joseph Xiarhos scored twice in the period, and Loo notched his third goal of the game to complete his hat trick.
  • Ziemba added another unassisted strike to send Webber into halftime leading 12-1.

Third Quarter: No Let-Up

Webber's offense remained relentless in the third:

  • Philip Scopano opened the second half with a goal, assisted by Colon-Prinzo.
  • Loo continued his scorching pace, scoring twice more in the quarter, including one assisted by Sheaffer.
  • Montreat got two goals in the frame—from D'Andrae McKenzie and Eli King—but they were surrounded by another Webber strike from Scopano, assisted by Loo.

Webber entered the fourth quarter with a commanding 16-3 advantage.


Fourth Quarter: Offensive Showcase

The final quarter was all Webber, with the Warriors erupting for 10 goals to cap off their blowout:

  • Sheaffer netted two more goals, bringing his total to four on the day
  • Loo added a goal off an assist from Sheaffer, and then assisted Sheaffer right back moments later.
  • The Sheaffer connection continued with Branden Sheaffer scoring off a Nick assist.
  • Benjamin Sheldon, Colon-Prinzo, Xiarhos, Israel Miranda, and Bentley King all joined the scoring parade, showcasing Webber's depth and ability to score from all over the field.
