Warriors Split SUN Doubleheader with Fire

Lakeland, FL – In an exciting doubleheader between Southeastern and Webber International, both games offered plenty of drama and intense moments. Southeastern took the first game in a narrow 1-0 victory, while Webber International roared back in the second game to secure a 7-5 comeback win.

Game 1 Recap: Southeastern 1, Webber International 0

The opening game of the doubleheader was a pitching duel from start to finish. Southeastern managed to push across the only run of the game in the bottom of the second inning when N. Streuer singled to left field, bringing home M. White, who had previously advanced to third on a balk.

Webber International had their chances, putting seven hits on the board and leaving nine runners stranded throughout the game. Southeastern's pitching staff remained resilient, working out of several jams, including a bases-loaded situation in the fourth inning.

Southeastern's defense also played a critical role, as they successfully picked off runners to keep Webber from gaining momentum. The Fire's starter dominated with timely strikeouts and efficient innings, allowing just one walk while racking up crucial outs to secure the shutout victory.

Game 2 Recap: Webber International 7, Southeastern 5

The second game was a stark contrast, with both teams finding ways to push runs across in a back-and-forth affair. Southeastern got on the board early with a two-run homer from N. Streuer in the bottom of the second inning, giving them a 2-0 lead. They tacked on another run later in the inning to make it 3-0.

Webber International's offense struggled early, but in the top of the fourth, they broke through with an RBI single by S. Schulz to cut the deficit to 3-1. Southeastern responded in the bottom of the fifth with two more runs to extend the lead to 5-1.

However, the game flipped in the top of the sixth when Webber International's bats came alive. A combination of singles, aggressive baserunning, and two Southeastern errors allowed Webber to score six runs, turning a 5-1 deficit into a 7-5 lead. Key hits from S. Nitch and N. Cannizzar fueled the rally, while J. Martinez and R. Recio also contributed with timely base knocks.

N. Palmese closed the door in the final innings for Webber International, retiring Southeastern hitters in order to secure the win and complete the comeback.
