Offense Explodes in the 8th inning as Warriors Split SUN Opening Series with Keiser

Babson Park, FL - In a game filled with offensive fireworks, Webber International University pulled away late, using a massive eighth inning to secure a dominant 19-9 victory over Keiser University. What started as a competitive back-and-forth battle turned into a blowout as WIU's bats erupted in the late innings.

The game began with Webber International coming out strong, putting up four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Deven Tedders set the tone with a leadoff solo home run, giving WIU an immediate 1-0 lead. The Warriors weren't done there—Ryan Recio followed with a two-run homer, and an RBI single by Jalen Martinez made it a 4-0 game before Keiser even had a chance to settle in.

Keiser, however, wasted no time responding. In the top of the second, G. Baird crushed a solo home run to put KU on the board. Later in the inning, D. Symonds delivered an RBI single, cutting WIU's lead to 4-2.

The momentum shifted further in the third inning when S. Grinberg launched a towering solo home run, bringing Keiser within one run (4-3).

Keiser carried its momentum into the fourth inning with a three-run rally to take its first lead of the game, 6-4. The rally started with an RBI groundout to tie the game, followed by a fielder's choice that brought home another run. Grinberg—already having homered earlier—came through again, delivering an RBI double to cap the inning and give KU a two-run lead.

WIU, however, didn't let the lead last long. They quickly regained control in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run inning of their own, tying the game at 6-6 thanks to a clutch RBI single from Mike Cuello and a sacrifice fly by Brandon Sanchez.

The Warriors continued their offensive attack in the fifth inning, retaking the lead at 8-6 with another two-run outburst, highlighted by a run-scoring error on the Keiser second baseman and a sacrifice fly by Cuello.

Keiser refused to go away quietly, cutting the deficit to 8-7 in the sixth inning thanks to another RBI single from Garcia. The Seahawks tied the game at 9-9 in the eighth, with Grinberg launching his second home run of the game and J. Garcia knocking in a clutch RBI single to bring KU even once again.

But just as Keiser looked to have fought their way back into the game, Webber International delivered the knockout punch in the bottom of the eighth.

With the score tied at 9-9, WIU's offense erupted for an incredible 10-run inning, putting the game out of reach in dramatic fashion. Cuello delivered the biggest blow, crushing a three-run double to break the tie and give WIU a commanding lead. From there, the floodgates opened, as Gabriel Cruz, Richard Rodriguez, Sanchez, and J'Quann Smith all contributed RBI hits to cap off the devastating inning.

By the time the dust settled, WIU had stretched their lead to 19-9, effectively sealing the victory.

While Keiser had standout performances—especially from Grinberg and Baird—their bullpen simply couldn't contain WIU's relentless hitting attack.
