Warriors Continue Perfect Start with Pair of Wins over Oakland City

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Warriors continued their dominant start to the season with a pair of victories over the Oakland City Mighty Oaks, securing another two wins at Brad Niethammer Field.

Game One: Webber International 5, Oakland City 1

The Warriors struck early in the bottom of the first when Gabriel Cruz tripled to right field and scored on a balk, giving Webber an early 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Brandon Sanchez's RBI single plated Ryan Recio to extend the advantage to 2-0.

Webber's pitching staff stifled the Mighty Oaks' offense throughout the game. Starting pitcher Blayne Huter tossed seven dominant innings, allowing just five hits while also striking out five.

The Warriors added insurance runs in the seventh, with Nick Badillo doubling in two runs to extend the lead to 4-1. Deven Tedders would later score on a throwing error, giving Webber a comfortable cushion. Jacob Hardy closed out the ninth inning in dominant fashion, retiring the side in order with two strikeouts and a flyout.

Game Two: Webber International 12, Oakland City 6

The Warriors' offense exploded in the second game of the series, capitalizing on Oakland City's defensive miscues and timely hitting. Webber jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, with Cruz and Recio both scoring on a combination of a balk and a hit-by-pitch.

After the Mighty Oaks tied the game in the second, Webber responded with a seven-run third inning. A wild pitch scored a run before another wild pitch brought home a second. A bases-loaded walk, followed by a hit-by-pitch, extended the lead to 10-2 before the inning finally ended

Oakland City fought back in the fifth with a three-run homer, cutting the deficit to 10-5, but the Warriors answered immediately. Skyler Schulz and Jalen Martinez each contributed RBIs in the bottom of the fifth to put the game out of reach at 13-5.

Gregory Bori was great in relief, striking out two batters over two innings to lock down the win. Webber's pitching and defense combined to hold Oakland City to only one more run, locking down the win.
