Warriors Fall at Coastal Georgia

Brunswick, GA - The Webber International Women's Basketball team played SUN foe College of Coastal Georgia on Wednesday evening. It was a competitive matchup, but Coastal Georgia pulled away in the second half to secure a commanding 69-52 victory.

The game started as a back-and-forth contest, with Webber International taking an early 5-4 lead after a three-pointer from Neri Moreau. Both teams struggled with shooting efficiency in the opening minutes, trading missed jumpers and turnovers. However, Webber managed to capitalize on fast breaks, with Jaiden Ross and Renae Brant contributing layups to extend their lead to 11-6.

Coastal Georgia responded with strong play in the paint, as Tyler Butler and Ali Stone kept them within striking distance. A three-pointer from Maylei Noreika cut Webber's lead to 14-11 late in the first quarter, but Webber answered with another three from Brant to maintain control. Coastal Georgia closed the gap with free throws and another three-pointer from Noreika, ending the first quarter trailing 16-14.

In the second quarter, Webber briefly extended their lead with a three from Ross, but Coastal Georgia quickly responded with a series of three-pointers from Taylor Gardner and Morgan Webb. Coastal Georgia's defense tightened, forcing Webber into multiple turnovers, and they capitalized with a 7-0 run to take a 26-19 lead. Webber struggled to regain momentum, while Coastal Georgia continued to build their advantage, heading into halftime with a 32-21 lead.

The second half saw Coastal Georgia take full control. Their three-point shooting remained strong, with Gardner and Webb knocking down crucial shots to extend their lead to double digits. Webber attempted to respond with scoring efforts from Ross and Moreau, but Coastal Georgia's ball movement and fast-break opportunities proved too much to handle. Butler continued to dominate inside, scoring multiple layups as Coastal Georgia built a 50-28 lead late in the third quarter.

Despite some late efforts from Webber's offense, including a three-pointer from Curry and a layup from McNeil, Coastal Georgia's lead was too large to overcome. They maintained their defensive pressure and closed out the game efficiently, securing a 69-52 victory.

Key performances included Coastal Georgia's Tyler Butler, who was dominant inside, and Taylor Gardner, who led the team's three-point attack. Webber International showed resilience early but struggled with turnovers and shooting efficiency as the game progressed.
