Frostproof, FL - The Webber International Softball team hosted Florida National University on Wednesday afternoon for a double header.
Taylor Thomas pitched a complete game one run game, but the Warriors were unable to capitalize on great scenarios, falling in game one, as game two went unplayed due to rain.
The game remained scoreless through five innings, with both teams struggling to capitalize on their limited offensive opportunities. Florida National managed a few base hits but failed to convert until the top of the sixth inning. After A. Vega singled and stole second, T. Gil was hit by a pitch, setting up G. Hall for an RBI single that brought Vega home for the game's only run.
Webber International threatened in the bottom of the fourth with three singles but left the bases loaded. Their best chance to tie came in the bottom of the seventh when Samantha Proctor singled and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. However, Florida National's defense held firm, with Jonkiria Bland lining out and Miranda Muriel fouling out to end the game.
