Warriors Open Indiana Trip with 20-7 Drubbing of Taylor

Westfield, IN – The Webber International Men's Lacrosse team opened up the first of three games in Westfield, Indiana with a game against Taylor University on Monday afternoon. The Warriors struck first and often, leading the Trojans 8-1 after the first period, and ultimately winning 20-7.

After a Taylor faceoff win, Tay'Quan Bryan caused a Trojan turnover, with Cameron Paleski winning the ensuing ground ball. Jeremiah Loo then fired the first goal of the game, a mere 86 seconds in. After Luke Pallone won the faceoff, Nick Sheaffer rattled off three straight shots, two being saved and one going wide, before finally breaking through off a pass from Riley Small. Sheaffer then completed a hat trick, scoring two straight times after Webber won the next two faceoffs. After another faceoff win, Gabriel Secreti made it 5-0 with five minutes gone in the quarter. Liam Murphy picked up a save in goal, before Joshua Colon-Prinzo scored a goal to make it 6-0. A Taylor turnover turned into to more Warrior points, as Connor Herring found the back of the net off a pass from Secreti. Taylor finally got one back, but Secreti would make it unnecessary as he scored again, making it 8-1 heading into the second quarter.

Luke Secreti took over in goal for the Warriors in the second quarter. Sheaffer opened the scoring for the Warriors with his fourth goal of the game. Bryan then scored a rare long stick goal, taking the faceoff ground ball won by Pallone, and rifling it into the goal, making it 10-1. Small and Loo scored next, with assists from G. Secreti and Sheaffer respectively. Herring got his second goal of the game, right before L. Secreti made his third save of the afternoon. G. Secreti got one more goal to go, as the Warriors took a 14-1 lead into the half.

Grayson McQuaig took over in goal to start the second half. After Taylor opened the scoring, Herring again found a goal to make it 15-2. Samuel Henry then scored for the Warriors, but Taylor quickly responded. Loo and Colon-Prinzo each sandwiched two Trojan goals, making it 18-5 heading into the final frame.

Adison Hommel started the fourth quarter in goal for Webber, immediately being tested and making a save. Loo scored again for Webber, making it 19-5. Taylor got two more goals in, before Sheaffer, off a pass from Loo ended the scoring and gave the Warriors the 20-7 win.

Sheaffer led the team with seven points, with five goals and two assists. Loo and G. Secreti each had five points, as Loo had four goals and an assist, while G. Secreti had three goals and two assists. Israel Mirando and Greyson Davidson led the team with five ground balls apiece, with Pallone picking up four.
