Warriors Fall to Fire

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Basketball team welcomed the Southeastern University Fire to Jessica Costanzo Court for a Saturday afternoon SUN Conference matinee. The Warriors went down early, and were unable to close the gap, falling 85-47.

Kori Wimberly scored first for the Warriors, making a basket. Jaiden Ross, Nicaria McHelon, Renae Brant, and J Curry also contributed points in the first quarter. Webber found themselves down 28-14 in the first, after shooting 31.3% from the field.

Curry scored first in the second quarter. Her basket was followed by a five minute scoring drought before Ross made back-to-back baskets. Curry ended the half with a three, as Webber was down 43-23 going into the half.

Brant and Ross scored the first six to start the second half before another three from Curry. Neri Moreau and Ijy'ana Edwards scored to end the quarter, making it 70-36 to end the third.

Curry and Ross struck first in the fourth quarter for Webber.  McHelon found the net from three, before Ross and Kahliya Gaitor made the final bucket for the Warriors, with the final buzzer sounding on the score of 85-47.

The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday, February 5th when they host Trinity College in non-conference action.
